MTN Cameroon, the leading company in the telecommunications sector in Cameroon, is pleased to announce that it has been discerned the GSMA Mobile Money certification. The certification was discerned by GSMA following a rigorous assessment that ran from 02 to 06 December 2019 with the aim of evaluating the conformity of MTN Cameroon’s Mobile Money (MoMo) services to best practices in the sector.
This certification followed a leading progres in mobile money operations over others like Orange money.
HOW DO SCAMMERS OPERATE?
1) Hand written offers
A scammer in this context is someone who has mastered the promotions and bonuses that mtn sends frequently to his customers. He therefore seats down and crafts messages like that and sends to pottential people. Most of the times they also forward sms from their phones to customers. As a result, when you receive the sms saying you have received a certain ammount of money, you are excited to check your balance. When checking your balance mtn momo normally demands that you enter your password or pincode. It is at this instance that the scammer succeeds. He might be having a cash out cash in commercial agent sim with which he has innitiated a cashout from your accout. You therefore put this code to see your balance but it confirms the cashout instead.
In the same way, he can call you immediately you receive the sms of money receival and tell you that he has mistaakenly sent money to your account and begging you to send it back to him. Most of them talk here with alot of sorrow and begging in such away that most victims send money to the numbers they give before checking their balance. It is after verifying that you will discover that he did not send you anymoney at all.
Danger. Most of them call you and make sure that they maintain you on call for long. NOTE that when you are on a call, your MOMO account or OM account is a bit insecured. Its like a pregnant woman. When a woman is pregnant, she is weak and vulnerable to harms.
